Partnership confirmed for our new event Student UK STEM Challenge in partnership with Bright Futures. The first event of it’s kind, bringing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) students and potential employers together. Students will showcase their skills by taking part in a team challenge event and potential employers will observe students in action and talent spot.

Teams take on an engineering problem

Northstar designed and delivered another successful event for Hong Kong based companies. Held at the Disneyland Resort on the island of Lantau, the 3 day inter-company challenge consisted of 5 bespoke challenges requiring mental, physical and strategic skills.

Our third year and our best yet in terms of both number of teams and team feedback. 10 brand new team challenges pushed the teams mentally and physically to their limits. Many congratulations to all those who took part and in particular to the winners ‘Eversheds’ with 724 points from a possible 1,000.

We are very proud that this event is now the fastest growing inter-business team challenge event in the UK, and from the post-event feedback it’s clear to see why:

• 100% of respondents described event as Excellent (76%) or Very Good (24%)

• Main motivations for taking part were cited as having fun, raising money, teamwork, competing, fitness and networking

•  97% said the event met their personal, team & company motivations

•  97% said they were ‘definitely’ or ‘likely’ to take part next year
  

•  100% would recommend the event to colleagues, clients, business partners or friends

Alongside Singapore based events company ‘Bamboo’, Northstar designed and implemented this team challenge event for China, Light & Power (Asia’s largest independent energy provider). Teams came to Hong Kong from offices across India and China for 2 days and nights of intense competition and team development.

CLP used the event to develop key relationships across internal business teams and raise the profile of skill development across their divisions.

We’ve just returned from another productive course design recce. The terrain is fantastic with breathtaking views broken up by periods of dense woodland. The tracks and trails ideal for those new to this type of activity and great areas for some larger, more strategic team challenges.

Lots of great brainstorming threw out many more challenge ideas. Each designed to ensure 1) Every single team member involved 2) They reward those teams that really work together and communicate and 3) They’re great fun.

There’s a lot of designing left to do but here’s a quick snapshot of how the course is shaping up.

Northstar have just returned from the annual HK Challenge after another successful event. Companies from across Hong Kong competed over 3 days and nights over a series of 5 strategic challenges, all designed exclusively for business teams.

The event is used by companies as a Talent Development tool for it’s staff and is attended by company HR representatives who observe the teams in action.

The event included a 3 hour negotiation game designed in co-operation with Horacio Falcao, ‘Director of Decision Sciences’ at Asia’s leading business school, INSEAD.

Company feedback has been outstanding and we look forward to designing next years event.

After two years in business and with a great deal more to talk about, we needed a major on-line face lift. This new site became live on Thursday 8th September, giving us a strong presence with which to grow further. We hope you find it interesting.

Course design for the HK Challenge well underway. Course looking very strong. Designing the final challenge based on a round of Golf – reducing ‘par’ as far as possible. Around 40 teams already signed up to the event from across Hong Kong.

Our 2nd year and another highly successful event with 20% more teams than 2010 including AON, Aviva, Northern Rock, HSBC and Credit Agricole. Team feedback overwhelmingly positive with 100% saying they would recommend the event.

Next years venue, Cannock Chase, Staffordshire announced. Looking forward to even more teams next year. 2011 winners were one of Northern Rock’s teams – Meet the Rockers – Congratulations!
